What We Will Learn This Week

Math: We are beginning work on Chapter 6, which covers addition strategies.  Scholars should focus on using the strategies: adding zero, adding doubles, and counting on.
Word Study: This week we are focusing on short vowels.  Scholars should be practicing identifying short vowel sound words at home.  We will also work synonyms.
Literacy Block:  We are continuing our next comprehension unit: schema (using what you know to connect with and relate to a text).  This week we are focusing on making text connections.
Writer’s Workshop:  Scholars are beginning the writing process with their newest small moment story.  They have planned their pieces, drafted them, and are now working on revising and editing them before publishing.  We will have an author’s party to celebrate and share our hard work.
Science: We will continue our introductory unit to the human body.

Room 207 Reaches 20 Shout Outs!

On the Friday before fall break scholars celebrated earning twenty shout outs by having a pizza and movie party.  Administrators and staff give shout outs to classrooms when they display excellent behavior as a class.  Every classroom that reaches 20 shout outs receives a pizza party prize.  Congratulations Room 207, your hard work paid off!
