We will be having a cumulative sight word
test in which your scholar will need to correctly read all 127 sight words we
have learned so far this year. This test
will take place on Tuesday, February
19th. Please help your scholar study
the flashcards that were sent home last week.

What We’re Learning
Comprehension: We have just
launched our Junior Great Books discussions and they are a huge success! Scholars have been learning how to read
critically, mark their text to track their thinking, and share their thoughts
in a conversation with their classmates.
Word Study: We are continuing our
work with blends. In grammar we are
learning about contractions.
Writing: We are beginning our
persuasive writing unit.
Math: We are currently working on identifying and
counting coins and money. We are also reviewing
time, calendar, and times of day.
Six Flags
Reminder
Six Flags Read to Succeed reading logs are due on
Thursday, February 14th.
Please ensure that the reading logs are complete and sent to school in
your scholar’s binder. Remember, six
hours of recreational reading equals a free ticket to Six Flags!
