What We Will
Learn This Week
Math: We are beginning
work on Chapter 7, which covers subtraction strategies. Scholars should focus on using the
strategies: using a number line to count back and relating addition and
subtraction facts.
Word Study: This week we
are continuing our work with synonyms and introducing antonyms. We are also reviewing short vowels and
introducing long vowels.
Literacy Block: We are finishing our comprehension unit on
schema (using what you know to connect with and relate to a text). This week we are focusing on making text to
world connections.
Writer’s Workshop: Scholars are finishing the writing process
with their newest small moment story.
They have planned their pieces, drafted them, and are now working on
revising and editing them before publishing.
We will have an author’s party to celebrate and share our hard work.
Science: We will finish
our introductory unit to the human body.
Pumpkin Patch Field Trip This Thursday
Our field trip to the Countyline Apple Orchard and
Pumpkin Patch will be this Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Scholars should wear their LEARN gym t-shirt
with jeans. Please dress warm! Our school will be providing lunch.
